How Mindfulness and Storytelling Help Kids Heal and Learn

Here is an excellent article on mindfulness and student success.  It especially focuses 
on students with trauma.  There are more than we like to think.  Well worth the read.

Neurological research shows that tragic experiences can affect brain development 
and impact a child's ability to concentrate and relax. Schools are discovering 
that practicing mindfulness can helps students who have experienced trauma 
develop self-calming skills. At one school in Oakland, a group of students found 
the practice so transformative that they wrote a book about it.
