Q-and-A: Educators share tips to increase active learning
Teacher and education blogger Larry Ferlazzo offers a collection of tips from educators to help bolster active student learning. Suggestions in this blog post include using motivation strategies based on intrinsic and extrinsic factors and "total participation techniques" that seek to encourage active participation and higher-order thinking. "We don't simply want behavioral compliance," education professors William Himmele and PĂ©rsida Himmele write. "In as much as we can, we want all students participating using cognitively intense prompts that cause them to grow each other's learning."
