Mich. school focuses on behavior to improve the learning environment - Courtesy of ASCD SmartBrief - Here is an article on a program that focuses on positive behaviors - hopefully leading to habituating positive behaviors over time.

Beginning this year, a Michigan elementary school will pilot the positive behavioral interventions and supports system, which teaches behavioral expectations to cultivate a positive learning environment for students. Rockford Public Schools Superintendent Mike Shibler says he expects PBIS to complement the response-to-intervention system already in place in the district. The school joins about 790 other schools using PBIS in Michigan, and 16,000 nationwide. (Michigan) (free registration)
